trichomoniasis
Trichomoniasis is caused by a single-cell organism which occurs in the vagina, and can, under certain circumstances (condition, stress) reproduce itself fast. Men usually do not notice anything, women often have complaints.
Symptoms of trichomoniasis
Trichomoniasis causes a white frothy discharge, which has a peculiar smell. The vagina may also itch and if infection reaches the urinary tract, peeing may be painful. An unprotected penis can be infected in the vagina. Symptoms are less clear in males than in females, but head of the penis can show red spots, and some discharge may be seen during urination. It is sensible to have these symptoms tested.
Treatment of Trichomoniasis
In order to determine whether the trichomoniasis infection has occurred, a small amount of the vaginal discharge is examined under the microscope. Trichomoniasis is easy to treat with a series of tablets. These must be taken according to instruction.
